Strymon Sunset Dual Overdrive Pedal

The Strymon Sunset Dual Overdrive Pedal is essentially two independent, customizable overdrive/boost pedals housed in a single unit, offering a comprehensive selection of six classic drive circuit types that can be stacked in various configurations.

It uses a hybrid design, combining an analog Class A JFET input stage for dynamic response with a powerful SHARC DSP chip to meticulously model the complexity and harmonic content of legendary analog drive circuits.

Dual Channels and Six Circuits

The pedal is split into two independent channels, Channel A and Channel B, each with its own set of three selectable circuits, Drive, Tone, and Level controls.

Stacking and Signal Routing

A three-position Config switch on the rear panel determines how the two channels interact:

• A $?$ B (Series): Channel A feeds directly into Channel B. Ideal for boosting one drive circuit with another.

• B $?$ A (Reverse Series): Channel B feeds directly into Channel A.

• Parallel: Channels A and B run in parallel, preserving clarity and allowing for unique tonal blends.

• Bright Switch: A three-position switch on the rear panel allows you to tailor the high-end response to your amplifier (from darker to brighter amps).

• Favorite Preset: An external MiniSwitch (sold separately) can be connected to save and recall a single "Favorite" preset setting that stores all knob and switch positions for quick changes.

• Expression Pedal Control: The Expression pedal input can be configured to:

  • Expression Mode: Morph continuously between two completely different settings (heel-down and toe-down positions for all knobs).

  • Volume Mode: Function as a volume pedal, even when the pedal is bypassed.

• Noise Reduction: A variable-threshold noise gate is available as a secondary function to help tame noise and hum at higher gain settings.
