Strymon Cloudburst Ambient Reverb

The Strymon Cloudburst Ambient Reverb is a compact digital reverb pedal known for its lush, expansive ambient sounds and a unique feature called the Ensemble engine.

It's based on an expanded and refined version of the "Cloud" algorithm from Strymon's flagship BigSky pedal, offering a wide range of reverb sounds from small, natural rooms to vast, infinite atmospheres.

Key Features

• Ensemble Engine: This is the Cloudburst's signature feature. It's a new technology that continuously analyzes your input signal across 48 frequency bands and generates upper harmonic partials, creating an organic, synthesized string-section or pad-like effect that blends with the reverb. It has a three-way toggle switch:

  • Off: Classic reverb sound.

  • $\text{mp}$ (Mezzo Piano): Subtle, rich harmonic enhancement.

  • $\text{forte}$ (Forte): More pronounced, lush string-ensemble effect.

• Reverb Tones: The single reverb algorithm is highly versatile.

  • Lower Decay settings can create realistic small room and hall spaces.

  • Higher Decay settings unlock the massive, ambient, and cloud-like washes the pedal is famous for.

• Controls: It features a simple, intuitive set of five main knobs:

  • Decay: Controls the duration of the reverb tail, and also morphs other internal parameters for different characters.

  • Pre-Delay: Sets the time between the dry signal and the start of the reverb.

  • Tone: Adjusts the high-frequency content of the reverb.

  • Mix: Blends the dry and wet signals (up to $100\%$ wet).

  • Mod: Controls the depth and speed of the modulation in the reverb tail, adding subtle movement or warble.

• Connectivity: Despite its compact size, it features:

  • Full Stereo Input/Output (via TRS jacks, switchable for mono-in/stereo-out, etc.).

  • TRS EXP/MIDI jack for expression pedal control, external tap tempo (with MultiSwitch Plus), or full MIDI control with 300 preset locations.

  • USB-C for MIDI control from a computer and firmware updates.

• Bypass: Selectable True Bypass or Buffered Bypass.
